Generally, Art is defined as the expression of human creative skill and imagination, typically produced to be appreciated for its emotional power or beauty.
According to Boswell (2020), we often refer to something as “political” or “all about politics” to mean it boils down to a power struggle between people or groups. This is the set of activities associated with a country's governance and the distribution of power.
When politics meets art, they emerge into an intentional use of creative work to critique power structures, advocate for the marginalized, or provoke public discourse on social issues. Normally, it is shown through theatrical performances. Theatrical performances are live public presentations of dramatic works, stories, or musical pieces performed by actors. It has different types, namely: plays, musicals, operas, dance and ballet, and puppetry and pantomime. By utilizing the stage, artists can transform political concepts into tangible, emotional experiences that force the audience to confront uncomfortable truths.
Rather, this is an eye-opener to the audience. In which we aim to tackle specific types of plays and how the underlying political themes are present. Through music and performances, it conveys the meaning screenwriters want to present, ensuring that Filipinos are aware of the ongoing social politics.
